About Dr. Gina Perry

Dr Gina Perry was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, and became interested in alternative medicine as a young mother in her 20’s.

She is a Certified Natural Health Professional and a Doctor of Naturopathy, completing her training through the Trinity College of Natural Health in 2005.  In 2023, Gina added the designation of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner to her impressive list of certifications.

Gina also received training through the Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and is certified in Level 2 Cranio-sacral therapy and Level 1 Lymphatic Drainage therapy.

She has operated her wellness center and bodywork studio for 22 years.  Gina is highly intuitive and listens carefully to her clients, whom she believes know their body better than anyone else.  Her role is one of teacher and guide as the client follows individually targeted protocols designed to support the body in its innate healing capacity.

Gina & her husband, Dwight, operate a nonprofit, Waking The Heart, Inc., where they facilitate adventure trips, retreats, small groups and individual coaching.  They have been married for over 43 years and have 4 adult children, a son-in-law and a granddaughter.

The All Important Vagus Nerve

The vagus nerve, also known as the tenth cranial nerve or simply the “wandering nerve,” is a crucial part of the autonomic nervous system that runs from the brainstem down through the neck, chest, and into the abdomen. It plays a pivotal role in regulating numerous bodily functions, including heart rate, digestion, respiratory rate, and even the body’s stress response. Stimulating the vagus nerve can have various health benefits, as it promotes relaxation and reduces stress. Methods to stimulate the vagus nerve include deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and progressive muscle relaxation. One of the biggest contributors to illness and disease is the Standard American Diet.  There is much information out there about what is “healthy” and what is not.  Let me make this simple for you:

It is NOT healthy to eat foods that are dead.  Foods that have chemical preservatives, food dyes, and shelf lives of months or years.  In Kindergarten, my son made me a Mother’s Day card at school where he glued Froot Loops onto a piece of construction paper.  He is now 33 years old.  I still have the card.  Thanks to the food preservatives, the Froot Loops are still there, looking like they did when they came out of the box 27 years ago.  This does not nourish your body in any way to eat these.
