One of the biggest contributors to illness and disease is the Standard American Diet. There is much information out there about what is “healthy” and what is not. Let me make this simple for you:
It is NOT healthy to eat foods that are dead. Foods that have chemical preservatives, food dyes, and shelf lives of months or years. In Kindergarten, my son made me a Mother’s Day card at school where he glued Froot Loops onto a piece of construction paper. He is now 33 years old. I still have the card. Thanks to the food preservatives, the Froot Loops are still there, looking like they did when they came out of the box 27 years ago. This does not nourish your body in any way to eat these.
It is NOT healthy to eat foods that are factory farmed. Animals that are pumped full of hormones to grow them faster, antibiotics to deal with the disease that comes from overcrowding, and the negative energy in the meat from their inhumane treatment.
It is NOT healthy to eat foods that are laden with more sugar in one serving than your grandparents used to eat in an entire month, fats that are modified to make foods last longer but cause increased oxidation in our bodies, or any food that has been genetically modified in a laboratory. This is way more of our processed foods than you think.
So what IS healthy? It’s easy! Humanely raised meat and fowl, fresh caught fish, organic vegetables and fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. For instance, guacamole and hummus are made with just a few fresh ingredients. Even store-bought, you should see less than 5 ingredients on the label.
You wouldn’t put dirt in the gas tank of your Lexus and expect it to run well. Likewise, you can’t put JUNK in your mouth and expect your body to run well. But healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring and tasteless. Let me help you with menus and recipes to nourish yourself and your family! Everyone in the family will feel better, have fewer health issues, think better, sleep better and be happier.
